The Kurtz Dome

The more technically oriented of the two domes, the Kurtz Dome holds a Takahashi FSQ-106n and a Takahashi FC-125 permanently mounted on a Paramount ME German Equatorial mount with one finder scope and computer interface. Like the Alden Dome, the Kurtz Dome has a slit which opens and rotates using a motor. A computer workstation in the dome allows easy connection to the telescope's CCD camera for high-resolution digital images of the night sky. In addition, students complete projects using data gathered from photometers, and a spectrograph.
