Ravi Jagadeesan '14, Zhuo Qun (Alex) Song '15 and David Yang '13 Gain Gold Medals at International Mathematical Olympiad 2012

Three Exonians, two representing the USA and one Canada, won individual gold medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). The 6-person USA team, which included  Ravi Jagadeesan and David Yang, finished in 3rd place at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) with a score of 194, missing 2nd place to the People's Republic of China by 1 point. The 6-person Canada team, which included Zhuo Qun (Alex) Song, finished in 5th place with a score of 159. The Republic of Korea was 1st with a score of 209.

Song ranked 4th among the 550 contestants with an individual score of 38 (out of a total possible score of 42). This is the 3rd IMO medal for Song, who received a gold medal in 2011 and a bronze in 2010, each time representing Canada. 

David Yang ranked 9th with a score of 36. This is a repeat gold for Yang, who participated in last year's IMO on the USA team. Ravi Jagadeesan ranked 33rd with a score of 28. The USA team was led by Zuming Feng, Exeter math instructor.

In total, the USA team won 5 individual gold medals and 1 silver. Team Canada received 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals. 

100 countries participated in the IMO, held in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
