Application and Forms
The following forms are required components of your application, along with your interview and standardized test results.
- Start your application online with the Candidate Profile *
Submit as soon as possible so we can open a file in your name. After we receive your Candidate Profile, you'll be able to monitor your application status electronically. If you prefer, you may download the Candidate Profile PDF and mail the paper application. Remember, submit the Candidate Profile only once, either online or on paper. We encourage you to submit online for faster processing.
Download and complete the following application forms:
- School Report **
Completed by a school official and sent along with transcripts directly to Exeter.
- English Teacher Recommendation **
Completed by the applicant's current English teacher and sent directly to Exeter.
Block schedule: If you are on a block schedule and not currently taking English, we require recommendations from your current history/humanities teacher plus last year's English teacher.
- Math Teacher Recommendation **
Completed by the applicant's current math teacher and sent directly to Exeter.
Block schedule: If you are on a block schedule and not currently taking Math, we require recommendations from your current science teacher plus last year's Math teacher.
- Extracurricular Recommendation
Completed by someone other than a classroom teacher and sent directly to Exeter.
- Student Essays
Completed by the applicant.
- Parent Statement (optional)
Completed by the parent; used by admissions to help us understand how we can best educate and guide a student.
Please do not send copies of your certificates and awards. You may use the Extracurricular Acivities space on the Candidate Profile to tell us about your achievements.
* In an effort to assist families with the admission process, the following secondary schools - Deerfield Academy, Groton School, The Hotchkiss School, The Lawrenceville School, Phillips Academy, Phillips Exeter Academy, St. Paul's School, and The Taft School - have agreed to pilot a shared Candidate Profile as the first step in the application process. A student who is applying to more than one school from the above list should forward a copy of the completed Candidate Profile along with the requisite application fee to each school to which he/she intends to apply. This can be done by mailing a photocopy or e-mailing a scanned attachment to each school's admission office. Submitting the Candidate Profile to one school does not send it to all other schools.
** The School Report, English, and Math Recommendation are accepted by the following members of the Ten Schools Admission Organization: Choate Rosemary Hall, Deerfield Academy, The Hill School, Hotchkiss School, The Lawrenceville School, Loomis Chaffee School, Phillips Academy, Phillips Exeter Academy, St. Paul's School, and The Taft School.
