Why are you a teacher: “I am fulfilling a childhood ambition: helping young people to appreciate mathematics, and encouraging youth to pursue careers in engineering, math and science.”

Other hats: Adviser to Students of Caribbean Ancestry (SOCA) and the Afro-Latino Exonian Society (ALES). Club cycling coach. “I also spent a year in France while on the faculty of the School Year Abroad Program in Rennes.”

Learning something new? “I am a member of the African-American Historical and Genealogical Society (AAHGS), and I’m researching my family’s ancestry.”

Advice: “Get to know people who grew up in circumstances different from yours. Ask questions. It is a key to learning at this school.”
