Boys Basketball: 2008 Season Roundup

Seniors Max Gordon, Nate Schwarze and Jabari Trotter captained a team that stayed focused throughout a long winter season. This year's seventeen wins is a school record for boys basketball.

Notable games:

  • Against Worcester Academy, Exeter came back from a seven point deficit with under a minute to play to win on a 3 pointer with five-tenths of a second left.
  • Exeter slugged it out with Cushing through two overtimes to win with a shot at the buzzer.
  • Exeter won twelve of their last thirteen regular season games and made it nine wins in a row over Andover in a convincing 73 -46 victory.
  • The Big Red beat NMH twice for the first time in eighteen years and beat New Hampton up north in their gym for the first time in 24 years.
  • Their hard work earned them a sixth seed in the Class "A" New England Tournament. In the first round game against St Thomas Morethe seventh ranked prep school in the nationExeter battled them evenly for 40 minutes, only to lose 72 – 71.

The leading scorer was Jabari Trotter averaging 16.8 points per game. The leading rebounder was Jon Pike '08 with 124 boards. The leader in assists was Nate Schwarze with 5.1 per game.
