Girls Cross Country: 2006 Season Roundup
Led by Amy Schuman and Natalie Russell, this team was a force in New England. They started off the season by beating Bishop Stang on their home course and continued to win earning a maximum of 20 points in all but one of the subsequent races. A notable win was the victory against Governor’s Academy, which had been the only team to beat Big Red in a dual meet in the past three years. In a loss to Andover, Lauren Ayers ran a personal record and placed 13th, Jenny Feinberg and Yuna Sakuma used team tactics to place 11th and 12 respectively, Lauren Brady ran the best race of her season and placed 6th, and Amy Schuman led the charge, won the race and set a new 5K course record of 18.10. While the squad will lose several seniors, the future looks bright with the likes of Margaret and Lauren Ayers, Madison Gilmore, Meredith Sopher, Molly Hassell, Erin Brady, Katie Quan, Hayley Daniell, Maria Bradifino, and Ari Wakeman running for Exeter next year.
