Environmental Task Force

There's an old saying that goes "In order to get somewhere, you need to know where you are". This saying is very applicable to our current discussions on campus sustainability.  We cannot truly measure our gains towards sustainability without knowing where we are right now.   Therefore, Facilities Management is working towards a fuller understanding of our current status for energy usage and environmental impact, by conducting a "sustainability and stewardship assessment".  

Working with a local consultant, MacMillan & Donnelly, Inc. we began collecting data this autumn and plan to wrap up this first phase of the project by the end of winter 2009.  Using the data collected in phase one of the project, we will develop an environmental action plan through the second phase of the assessment process.  The action plan will allow us to set goals and continue moving forward with our campus sustainability efforts in a more efficient and effective way.
