Recycling
Exeter revamped the recycling program in 2003, making it much more visible, user friendly and comprehensive. In addition to paper, plastic, glass and tin recycling, the school has collection bins for cardboard, batteries, printer cartridges, cell phones, compact flluorescent light bulbs, and other "techno trash". Please note that while compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL's) are a more energy efficient alternative to incandescent light bulbs, they contain mercury and are considered hazardous waste. DO NOT throw CFL's in the trash, Exeter will recycle these bulbs. Please contact, Jennifer Wilhelm, for more information about recycling.
Exeter is currently facilitating an EcoPhones Fundraiser to raise money for conservation organizations. Students, faculty, and staff can drop off their used cell phones and ink cartridges in bins around campus. Student Environmental Proctors help empty the bins and bring the contents to a central location. The recycling program not only reduces waste, it can also save money. Since 2003 we have recycled hundreds of ink-jet cartridges and cell phones generating over $1,000 in revenue. The money collected through the EcoPhones Fundraiser is used to pay for our techno trash recycling.
Please look for the battery and techno trash recycling bins to recycle your unwanted items!
