Biography

Kathy Simon is a licensed independent clinical social worker with more than 18 years of experience in the mental health field. Her areas of expertise include comprehensive clinical assessments, the treatment of depression, anxiety and trauma, and developing healthy relationships and communication. Ms. Simon’s modalities of treatment include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy skills and motivational interviewing. She takes a holistic approach to treatment in order to highlight the interconnectedness of identities and all aspects of a person’s life. 

Ms. Simon obtained a bachelor’s degree in both psychology and sociology at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, in 2003. In the years between obtaining a bachelor’s and a master’s degree, she worked in the mental health field, focusing on the treatment of severe mental illness and substance abuse. In 2009, Ms. Simon obtained a master’s degree in Social Work from Simmons University.

Career highlights for Ms. Simon include the development and management of a jail-based mental health collaborative for women, work as a training consultant for clinically-based trainings at a Massachusetts community health center, and working as a facilitator for trainings across the state of Massachusetts focused on racial and ethnic disparities in the juvenile justice system. 

Ms. Simon lives off campus. In her free time she enjoys reading, fitness and spending time with family and friends.
