Facilities Management
Our commitment to continuous improvement is achieved through collaborative efforts in a mutually supportive environment. Our goal is to provide responsive, safe and expert support to the community, and to the mission of the Academy. Facilities Management is responsible for the tangible quality of life on campus as provided by physical facilities that are attractive, safe and functional. The department provides planning, design, construction, maintenance, custodial and grounds care to the entire Academy campus and residential community. We also provide leadership and support in campus safety, transportation, energy conservation, recycling and environmental issues.
A director and five members of a leadership team oversee the department. Through the efforts of over 100 full-time and part-time employees, the department maintains 617 acres of grounds, and approximately 1.5 million square feet of building space (130 buildings total with 25 dormitories and 117 faculty residence units). Included in this maintenance effort are approximately 200 acres of developed grounds, playing fields and the campus network of roads, parking areas and walkways.
