Project Scope:
Scope includes construction of a third faculty house on the 42 Court Street lot.  The third house was designed with the same sustainable principles as the first two that were constructed in 2007 on the same lot.  The house consists of approximately 2,300 square feet of living space, 4 bedrooms, and 2 1/2 baths.   It was constructed with 10 1/4" thick Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPS) and is heated and air conditioned by a geothermal heat pump system.  The home will utilize a heat recovery ventilation system to recapture energy from the exhaust air and a drain water heat recovery system to recapture energy from the bathroom drains.  The domestic hot water will be heated by solar panels.

Building materials were selected with longer life spans and greater durability to decrease maintenance and renewal costs.  Paints and Sealants with no VOC content were used and up to 75-80% of construction waste was recycled.

Project Schedule/Status:
Design was completed in early February.  Construction started on March 24, 2008.

The house was completed in early August.
