Governance at Exeter

Governance at Phillips Exeter Academy has evolved from a responsibility held solely by Trustees in the late 18th century to one shared among the Trustees, the Principal, and the Faculty today.  The Trustees manage the Academy's financial and physical resources; the Principal directs the day-to-day operations of the Academy, and the Faculty govern matters related to the student experience, both in and outside the classroom.  While each group has certain authority over specific matters, all deliberations are informed by a collaborative spirit and a shared commitment to Exeter's educational mission.
