Senior Music Recitals During the Month of May

Austin Sutherland (r), baritone, with Jean Strazdes, music instructor, during rehearsal for his senior recital

During May, seniors enrolled in Music 500 perform a public recital. Music 500 is an intensive performance course for the most advanced instrumentalists and vocalists who wish to devote one term to intensive study of their instrument or voice. The course culminates in a public recital. Through participation in weekly performance classes, students work on technique and interpretation with the goal of developing their own musical voice. In consultation with their private teachers, students choose and prepare repertoire for their recital programs. Common questions and strategies relating to public performance are addressed in weekly classes where students have the opportunity to play for each other and receive constructive feedback.

All senior recitals are free and open to the public.
