About the Bulletin, Winter 2008

The Exeter Bulletin was founded in 1905 to “bring alumni in closer touch with the school and with one another.” A later editor likened the Bulletin to “a family letter from home.”

Today, the Exeter family has grown to more than 21,000 alumni/ae, men and women whose pursuit of “knowledge and goodness” has taken them all over the globe. But the Bulletin’s mission remains the same: to connect alumni/ae with one another and with life at Exeter today.

The Bulletin is published four times a year, and is sent free of charge to alumni/ae, family members and friends, as well as other educational institutions. The online Bulletin, which includes excerpts from our print edition, made its debut with the winter 1999-2000 issue. The Bulletin is produced by the Communications Office, and all of its content is copyrighted by the Trustees of Phillips Exeter Academy.

Finis Origine Pendet
A motto familiar to all Exeter alumni/ae, “Finis Origine Pendet” is also the name of the essay column that closes every issue of the Bulletin. If your “end depends upon the beginning” you made at Exeter, perhaps you have the makings of a good “Finis Origine Pendet” essay. Send your queries to Editor Beth Brosnan at bulletin@exeter.edu.

Exonians in Review
Edouard Desrochers ’45, ’62 (Hon.), editor of the Bulletin’s Exonians in Review, encourages alumni/ae to notify him of their publications, recordings, films, etc., in any field, and those of classmates. Whenever possible, authors, composers and filmmakers should also send one copy of their work and original copies of articles to him for inclusion in the Academy Library’s Alumni/ae Collection.
