GV Swimming and Diving: 2011 Season Roundup

Girls celebrate winning the New England Prep Championship trophy for the 2nd year in a row.

March 22, 2011

Overall Record: 4-2 in regular season dual meets. Placed 1st at New England Prep School Championships.
Versus Andover: Loss 105-81

The team finished their dual meet season with a 4-2 record heading into the New England Championships held at Exeter this year. They avenged their earlier loss against Andover on their way to a first place finish at the championship meet.

The team had 140 personal best swims this season. Leading the way in personal bests this season were:
Catherine Denton '13 with 14
Cory Johnson '13 with 14
Jennifer Liu '12 with 13
Renee Wang '12 with 13
Diane Lee '14 with 12
Nicole Anderson '11 with 11
Corinne Noonan '14 with 11

Our two strongest events that eventually pulled us ahead of Andover for the championship were the 100 Backstroke and the 100 Breastroke. In the 100 Back, Oliva Jackson '13 placed 2nd, Nicole Anderson placed 4th and Renee Wang placed 6th in New England. In the Breastroke, Emma Nuzzo '12 was 3rd, Jennifer Liu was 5th and Hope Logan '14 placed 6th.

To top off the evening, our 400 Free Relay of Catharine Shipps '13, Nicole Anderson, Olivia Jackson and Emma Nuzzo placed 2nd ahead of Andover's Relay with a time that was just tenths of a second off of our varsity record.

The team and coaches would like to thank senior managers Clare Pak and Angus Schaefer for all their help throughout this season.
