BV Swimming & Diving: 2012 Season Roundup

Overall Record: 4-4

The boys varsity team capped off the season with a 3rd place finish at the New England Championships. The team had a singular focus all season – to prepare for outstanding performances at the championship meet. The team did just that setting 3 New England records, 3 additional school records and numerous personal records.

Finn Meeks and Jackson Rafter started the rally with tremendous swims in the 200 free. Brooks Reavill followed this up also in the 200 free with a school record breaking swim of 1:42.67. (He would lower the record that night to 1:42.42.) These performances helped inspire the team for the rest of the day.

Joe Shepley would win the individual medley and set a new school record. Shepley would also win the 100 butterfly and set a New England record of 49.59. Avery Reavill won the 50 free while setting a new school record in 20.84 and go on to take second in the 100 free. Christian Ayscue would finish fifth overall in diving, improving on last year's 15th place finish in only his second year.

Exeter boys placed a number of athletes into the finals at night, including Colby Ye in the IM and breastroke, Chris Mukasa in the 50, Roman Huszar and Christian Ayscue in diving, Philip Decker and Philipp Kharkovskiy in the 100 butterfly, Brooks Reavill in the 100 free as well as the 200 free, Jackson Rafter and Finn Meeks in the 200 and 500 free, and Kurt Pianka and JB Baker in the 100 back.

Exeter boys of Brooks Reavill, Avery Reavill, Chris Mukasa and Joe Shepley set a New England record in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:24.14. The night was capped off by the performance of the 400 free relay team of Joe Shepley, Avery Reavill, Jackson Rafter and Brooks Reavill.  The team came into the night with a seed time of 3:14.91 and came away with the win and a New England record time of 3:06.13!

Jackson Rafter, Chris Mukasa, Joe Shepley, Avery Reavill and Brooks Reavill were named All Americans.

The team would like to thank pool operator Sam Coes and managers Nicole Daphnis, Emily Palmer, Nicole Schoen, Claudia Teng and Melissa Baroff.
