With the fall sports season at an end, Exeter paused to recognize the hard work and great play of the school's 2 New England championship teams: BV cross-country and BV water polo. Athletic Director Rob Morris thanked the teams for their outstanding performances and Principal Hassan congratulated them for their achievements as the championship bowls were presented in front of the assembled student body.

Here's a sample of what contributed to the athletic success of several of this year's Most Valuable Players (MVPs) and their teams:

Boys Water Polo MVP Max Drach ’13: "What made us strong this year was our ability to play as a team. Everyone worked hard each practice and contributed to every victory. As a goalie, my MVP award comes from them -- from their hard, well-placed shots in practice and from their killer defense each game."

Girls Soccer Co-MVP Carlin Zia ’13: "I think our greatest strength this season was a combination of hard work and camaraderie. Different people stepped up every day with that little extra effort that motivated everyone else to give a little more. Internal drive and team chemistry definitely fueled our success, and both were present throughout the season, on the field and off."

Boys Cross-Country MVP Kieran Scannell ’13: "I feel honored to have been chosen as MVP on our hardworking, tight-knit, and intensely supportive team. I would like to thank Coach Unger and Coach Newbould for aiding and guiding us on our path to being New England Champions."

Girls Cross-Country MVP Elsa Chinburg ’15: "My success is a result of a lot of hard work and training, and a lot of time put into running. The highlight of the season was placing top 20 at Interschols and getting my name put in the Hall of Fame as a result of breaking 20 minutes."
