Exeter, NH (May 19, 2009)—From Tuesday, May 19 to Saturday, June 6, the Lamont Gallery at Phillips Exeter Academy will open its annual Senior Art Show, a diverse exhibit of works created by the Academy’s seniors. An opening reception with students will be held on Thursday, May 21, noon-1:30 p.m. The Lamont Gallery is located in the Frederick R. Mayer Art Center on Tan Lane. All events are free and open to the public.

This year’s submissions include a variety of architecture, painting, printmaking, drawing, photography and ceramic entries. The show will include over 170 individual works, and is open to any senior who has taken an art class while at Exeter.

Lamont Gallery Director Karen Burgess Smith says, “This year’s Senior Art Show continues the tradition of our Art Department students displaying a variety of works in the Lamont Gallery, ranging from ceramics to photography, architecture to printmaking, drawing and painting. Some of these talented art students may have only taken one art course in their time here, but many more have created a substantial body of work as Exonians. The members of the Art Department are delighted to present this year’s exhibition, and appreciate the dedication, hard work and creativity of these talented up-and-coming artists!”

Gallery hours are Mondays 1–5 p.m.; Tuesday–Saturday 9 a.m.–5 p.m.; closed on Sundays. For further information, contact the Lamont Gallery at 603-777-3461.
