PEA Faculty, Staff, Students and Alums Turn Out for President Obama’s Town Hall on Health Care Reform

Exonians, faculty and staff at President Barack Obama's town hall meeting on health care reform
Members of the Phillips Exeter community turned out strong Tuesday when President Barack Obama held a town hall meeting at Portsmouth High School on health care reform. More than 1,800 attended the two-hour afternoon event, held in the school’s gymnasium. More than several hundred demonstrators rallied outside in the afternoon heat, both for and against the newly proposed legislation. PEA faculty, staff, students and alumni/ae were on hand, volunteering as event organizers, staffers and as community residents interested in learning more about the issue.

Rising upper Nicholas Johnson, who attended White House security training to prepare for the town hall meeting, assisted with management of the microphone during questions and answers. Alums Jacqueline Stephenson ’06, Evelyn Wenger ’07; and Tori Wenger, Kwasi A. Boadi and Curtis Thomas, all from the class of 2009, volunteered and were also in the audience.
