Welcome family and friends! This weekend's near-peak foliage is the perfect backdrop for exploring Exeter's campus, going to classes, watching sports practices and meeting faculty.

Here are a few of the weekend's highlights:

Learn what Harkness is all about – attend class with your student, join in classroom discussions with faculty and other parents, and hear presentations from faculty. Topics include: "How We Teach Math at Exeter" and "What's So Special about Computer Science?" You'll also have the chance to learn about Exeter's many foreign language and culture programs abroad, and even get your hands inky at a printmaking workshop.

Parents talk to Anne Rankin, science instructorListen to glorious strains of music – open rehearsals of Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band, Stage Band, Symphonia and Percussion Ensemble take place in the Forrestal-Bowld Music Center. Glee Club, Concert Choir, Chamber Orchestra and Women's Chorus rehearse in Phillips Church.

Meet college counselors – attend a College Counseling open house or listen to speakers on "Financing Higher Education."

Watch your student play sports – Northfield Mount Hermon teams are on campus Saturday for match-ups in cross-country, football, field hockey, soccer, volleyball and water polo.

Learn about the Seacoast area via trolley – take a narrated tour from Exeter to Hampton and Rye Beach. Reservations required.

Take a guided tour of the Class of 1945 Library – learn about the award-winning library and the history of the school.

Stargaze at Grainger Observatory – Friday nights at the observatory are a tradition. Be part of it this weekend, weather permitting.

Learn about Exeter Social Service Organization (ESSO) – check out the bowls created by Exonians for the Empty Bowls Project 2009, a benefit for Crossroads House, a transitional shelter located in nearby Portsmouth, NH.

And there's lots more, including discussion and dinner hosted by students of La Alianza Latina (LAL) and Afro-Latino Exonian Society (ALES), visits to the exhibition at Lamont Gallery and even activities for younger siblings.
