Concert, Sing-Along and Reception for Irving Forbes

Irving Forbes, chairman emeritus of the music department at Phillips Exeter Academy, will receive the Founder's Day Award for exceptional service to the Academy at an assembly on Friday, May 19, 2006. That evening a group of Irving's colleagues, friends, and former students will present an informal concert to honor Irving and his wife, Margery. Irving will conduct the audience in a sing-along, and there will be an open mike for tributes and anecdotes.
The program will feature works by Bach, Brahms, Chopin, Dvorak, and Mozart, as well as original music by Stephanie Curcio, Eric Sinclair, and Paul Sullivan '73. Performers will include former Academy orchestra conductors Mimi Bravar, Charles Forbes '54, and Carol Block Hall; current Academy music instructors Lodowick Crofoot, Stephanie Curcio, Keith Polk, Eric Sinclair, Robert Squires, Gail Volk and Eleanor Taylor; alumni/ae Angelynne Hinson '80, Charles Kaufmann '73, Julia Scolnik '74, Paul Sullivan '73, School Minister Robert Thompson '72, and Gregory Vitale '86; and friends Jean Alvord, Margaret Blickle, Barbara Flocco, and Cynthia Forbes.
A reception will follow the concert.
