Make the Exeter Connection Register Now for Exie-Net, New Online Services for Alumni/ae
Now
comes Exie-Net, a package of online services including career networking, business yellow pages, and an electronic directory of Exeter alumni/ae. Located on a secure server donated by John Warner '72, Exie-Net can be found at http://phillips.exeter.edu "The full range of Exie-Net services are now available," says Harold Brown '74, director of alumni/ae affairs. "A series of online events will launch before the end of the year, the first being a moderated chat with author Dan Brown '82. Our goal with Exie-Net is to provide Exeter alumni/ae with immediate access to the vibrant, ever-changing Exeter community to help them build connections with one another and with the school. The strength of the program will lie in its One of Exie-Net's most useful tools for building connections will be the electronic alumni/ae directory, a "live" database searchable by name, region, occupation, and a host of other criteria. As with all Exie-Net services, access to the database is restricted to the Exeter community. Alumni/ae who prefer not to appear may make this change directly on the site (see Questions
and Troubleshooting).
Also available through Exie-Net is a new career services center. This powerful tool will help match Exonians willing to act as mentors with Exonians seeking career advice. All alumni/ae interested in serving as career mentors may sign up directly on the site
A job posting service is also available through Exie-Net. Alumni/ae may post job descriptions and resumes, and those seeking employment or to fill a position will be able to search the listings. Users may limit their postings to Exie-Net, which is a secure site restricted to the Exeter community, or may allow their postings to be read by a larger pool of alumni/ae from other institutions who have similar sites. Job seekers will be able
to search the listings by region, profession, and
other criteria. A final feature of Exie-Net is the electronic yellow pages. Alumni/ae may use this free service to advertise a business or product, and may once again limit their advertising to Exie-Net or make it available to alumni/ae from other institutions.
To access Exie-Net, simply visit http://phillips.exeter.edu and register as a new user. Easy-to-follow instructions are located on the site. All services are free of charge.
The creation of Exie-Net was guided by Exeter's Lifelong Networking Project committee, chaired by Jake Galston '58 and comprised of David Day '94, Jamie Howard '58, Alan Jones '72, Marjorie Lau '79, and George Radford '67. The committee spent last year polling alumni/ae about their needs and interests, while also providing technical advice and expertise. Exie-Net is a constantly evolving service, and the alumni/ae affairs office is eager to receive feedback on how Exie-Net tools are working and what additional services are needed. Use the online feedback option and watch for updates in the Bulletin or through email. Most important, don't forget to register for Exie-Net and make the most of your Exeter connection.
