Since the launch of Exie-Mail last summer, thousands of Exonians have activated their personal accounts. Most alumni and alumnae are using the Exie-Mail forwarding feature, which automatically sends Exie-Mail messages to any email address of their choice. With Exie-Mail, you never have to worry about announcing a change of email address to your fellow Exonians. Your Exie-Mail address will automatically forward your messages, no matter how often you change Internet providers-so your link to other alumni and alumnae will never be broken. Signing up for Exie-Mail's forwarding service is quick, easy, and free. Simply complete the reply card in this issue and return it to the office of alumni/ae affairs, and they will do the rest. If you have any questions, please call Debra Bacon at (800) 828-4325, ext. 3480 or email dbacon@exeter.edu. Exie-Mail is made possible through the generosity of John Warner '72.
The Founder's Day Award is given to an alumnus, alumna, retired faculty or staff member, parent, or friend who has demonstrated exceptional service to the Academy. The service must be extraordinary, beyond what is regularly contributed by others doing similar service, and the nominee must still be living at the time of nomination. Duration of service may be of any length, but should perhaps be of five years or more. The recipient may receive the award only once and should not have previously received the John Phillips Award. The John Phillips Award is given to an alumnus or alumna of the Academy, still living at the time of nomination, whose life demonstrates John Phillips' ideal of goodness and knowledge united in noble character and usefulness to mankind. The nominee should have contributed significantly to the welfare of community, country, or humanity, beyond any volunteer service to the Academy. Nomination letters should document with specifics how the nominee meets each award criteria. Supporting documents, news articles, or other material are particularly helpful for the John Phillips Award. Nomination letters should be addressed to Harold Brown '74, director of alumni/ae affairs, Phillips Exeter Academy, 20 Main Street, Exeter, NH, 03833.
"I'm confident that regardless of where one lives, the community of PEA alumni/ae can be just as vital as the community we experienced as students. In New York, for example, the city is so dynamic it would be a shame not to take advantage of all that goes on here, and, more particularly, of what Exonians are doing here. Our goal in the Association is to help alums remain connected with the school and with one another, whether it's taking a walk through an historic neighborhood with an Exonian who knows architecture, or a summer pool party in the suburbs, or drinks at the SoHo bar, Naked Lunch."
"When I work for Exeter today, it's to repay the school for all it has given me, although I couldn't begin to. This is just a gesture, just the beginning." Priya Wadhera '90 President of the Exeter Association of Greater New York, admission representative, 10th reunion gift volunteer, and General Alumni/ae Association director. |
