Office of Multicultural Affairs

The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) works with students, faculty and staff to educate the community about issues of diversity, inclusion, equity and social justice.  The office is particularly focused on working with the community to create an environment where everyone, regardless of his or her race, gender, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic class, geographical origin, physical ability and sexual orientation, is included and respected.

At the beginning of the year, new students are introduced to the diversity at Exeter through a workshop, "Living in a Diverse Community," which is held during New Student Orientation.  The Dean of Multicultural Affairs also works closely with proctors, student listeners, the Dean of Faculty and Human Resources, to continually educate the community about our differences (and similarities).

Individuals in the OMA also serve as primary advisers for several cultural clubs, including La Alianza Latina (LAL), the Afro-Latino Exonian Society (ALES), Multi-Racial Exonian Society (MRES), Diversity Council, Thai Society, ASEAN Society (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), and International Student Advisory Board.  The OMA also works closely with Student Activities to help plan and execute various activities, including International Day, Asian Cultural Weekend, and dinners sponsored by LAL and ALES.  The Dean is a member of the Assembly Committee and the Martin Luther King, Jr Day Committee.  Both of these committees play an important role in supporting the schools diversity initiative throughout the year.

The OMA is located on the ground floor of the Jeremiah Smith Building, the main administrative building.
