Literary

Ex Libris
Ex Libris is a book group open to uppers and seniors. Each term, members are given the chance to nominate their favorite titles; almost any form of literature, be it a short story, a novel, or a play, is acceptable. A few of these titles are selected each term, and are made available for free to members who request them. For each piece, there is an informal meeting at the end of the term; members may take this opportunity to critique and discuss what they have read. Adviser: Mrs. Page

Exeter Review
The Exeter Review is a literary magazine which strives to serve as an inter-generational Harkness table. We collect writing and art from the students, and put the magazine together during the Spring Term. This relatively new publication will be accepting submissions in the winter. Advisers: Ms. Carbonell

Exeter Shakespeare Society
Exeter Shakespeare Society promotes the works of William Shakespeare by holding movie showings and live performances of individual scenes. In addition, once a year, we put up a full-length play. We work in conjunction with the local public high school, providing an avenue for students from both schools to meet and work together. We hope not only to encourage students to read, understand and act out Shakespeare's writing, but also appreciate the culture in which his stories take place. Mr. Hearon

Pendulum
Pendulum is PEA's literary and arts magazine, one that has been in existence off and on since the early 1960s. Before spring break, the editors select prose, poetry, and visual arts submitted by PEA students for publication. Adviser: Ms. Flynn

PIP (People Interested In Poetry)
PIP is the only publication on campus that is exclusively dedicated to poetry. PIP meets informally to critique constructively any work that is handed in. Once a year, an issue containing student works is published. Adviser: Mr. Hearon

Varsity Writing
Varsity Writing is a writing workshop club. The club caters to Exonians of varying writing interests and exposes them to an organized means of pursuing art with their peers. A member can join a branch as specific as Haiku or as general as Variety. The goal of the club is to facilitate the improvement of  writing within a warm setting while also allowing people to be part of an extensive, thriving literary community. Club members experience the valuable intimacy involved in participating in a workshop of around six people while also having access to a Blackboard network that includes everything from writing outlets (summer programs, contests, etc.) to general discussions about writing. Also available are biweekly extemporaneous writing sessions and faculty spotlights. The club works passion into products: we improve our writing, deepen our insights and enhance our lives. Adviser: Ms. Dionne.
