Food Allergies
Students with identified food allergies are contacted at the beginning of each school year by the Physician's Assistant. The student is asked to make an appointment with both the Physician's Assistant and the dietitian to review specific information about the food allergy. This information is then documented in the medical chart.
The dietitian assists the student as needed with regard to finding appropriate foods in the dining halls to meet nutritional needs. If the food allergy has anaphylactic potential, the student is informed where epipens are located on campus.
The Health Center sends a list of students with food allergies, their picture, and the foods of concern to the Food Service director and the managers of each dining hall.
