Staff Compensation and Benefits

Compensation Philosophy

PEA uses a "market-based" approach to determine your salary. Once market data is gathered, our goal is to set compensation above the market average. Each year we review 20% of staff positions to ensure we stay competitive with the regional labor market. Salaries are adjusted annually in July.

Benefits Overview

Health Plan: We offer two high deductible health plans through Anthem. To help offset the deductibles in both plans, PEA funds between one-third and two-thirds of the deductibles in a health savings account (HSA) or health reimbursement account (HRA). Both plans cover inpatient, outpatient, mental health and prescription drugs. Six quality/cost-savings tools are offered to help make you a well-informed healthcare consumer. You and PEA share the cost of the health plan.

Dental Plan: Northeast Delta Dental provides two plans. The Low Plan offers preventive, basic, major and orthodontic services with an annual maximum benefit of $1,000. The High Plan offers the same coverage as Low Plan, but with an annual maximum benefit of $2,000. You and PEA share the cost of the dental plan.

Retirement Plan: Our 403(b) plan is top-rated. TIAA and Fidelity are the plan managers. PEA contributes 9% of salary less than the IRS step rate and 12% of salary in excess of the IRS step rate for employees under age 50 as well as 12% for employees age 50+. All contributions are 100% vested from date of hire. A full range of investment choices, withdrawal features, and distribution options are available.

In addition, we encourage you to contribute a percentage of your salary as well, either pre-tax or post-tax. Plan representatives visit campus each month to offer free advice.

Basic Life Insurance: a basic life insurance plan equal to one times your annual base salary up to $100,000. The plan offers a living benefit feature for terminal illness. This is an Academy paid benefit.
