Yes, we strongly encourage families to register for the weekend. If you have not already registered, click here to register.

For those families who miss online registration, walk-in registration is open Friday (7 a.m. – 4 p.m.)  and Saturday (7:30 a.m. – 10 a.m.) at Grainger Auditorium in the Phelps Science Center, on Tan Lane, where you will pick up a Family Weekend packet.

Where do I pick up my registration packet?

We request that families start their campus visit at Grainger Auditorium in the Phelps Science Center on Tan Lane. There you will receive the program of events, nametags that will give you access to sessions, campus maps, and Exeter swag. Registration packets will be arranged by registrant last name.

You can find a list of places to stay on our website. We recommend making arrangements for overnight accommodations as soon as possible.

Saturday – all students by 11:00 p.m.

What do I need to do if I want to take my child off campus for the weekend?

Students may go off campus with their parents for the weekend after their last Academy commitments, which includes any athletic contests in which they are participants.

Please finalize any plans well before the weekend, leaving ample time for your child to obtain the necessary permissions to leave campus. Student out-of-town permission forms must be received in the Dean of Students Office by end of day on Thursday, October 20 for the weekend. Parental permission for overnight trips must be received via Single Event Permission Form on the Parent Portal (please note: sign-in is required to access the Parent Portal).

The following information will help with your planning:

  • Day trips with parents: For Family Weekend only, students planning a day trip with their parents either in or out of the Exeter vicinity do not need to complete an out-of-town permission form. Students should inform their dorm head or other dorm faculty members about their plans.  Students must check into their dorms by the check-in time for that day.
  • Day trips without parents:  Students planning a day trip without parents out of the Exeter vicinity must complete an out-of-town permission form by end of day on Thursday, October 20 and receive permission from the Dean’s Office for the trip. If required, parents must send their permission via the Single Event Permission Form in the Parent Portal. Students must check into their dorms by check-in time for that day.
  • Overnight trips:  For all overnight trips, students need to follow the normal out-of-town procedures. Forms are due by end of day on Thursday, October 20. Parent permission must be submitted via the Single Event Permission Form in the Parent Portal prior to departure.

What if my child needs to get to and from an airport?

We offer transportation for students only to both Manchester Regional and Boston’s Logan Airports on Saturday, October 22 and back to Exeter on Monday, October 24. Students MUST register for transportation to the airports using this link. Please check with the airline to see if your child is considered an unaccompanied minor. If needed, we can assign a chaperone to accompany them or pick them up from the gate.

If you have any questions, please contact the Transportation Office via phone at 603-777-3494 or transportation@exeter.edu.

Can I attend my student’s classes?

At this time, the Academy is planning to allow visiting family members to attend Harkness classrooms during Family Weekend. To accommodate necessary spacing between others in our classrooms, we will need to limit each family to no more than two visitors per class. Should pandemic conditions shift, then we may alter this plan and will update families accordingly.
