Extracurricular Performing Arts at Exeter Summer

Theater and music are a vital part of Exeter Summer life. During the five-week session, Exeter Summer presents dramatic productions and a dance concert of original choreography.

Extracurricular music activities give you the chance to use your talents and pursue your interests outside of the formal musical performance classes. We encourage you to bring musical instruments and to join one or more of the vocal or instrumental groups.

Jazz Jam

Open to the entire Summer community who have previous experience playing jazz. This group provides an opportunity to sharpen improvisation skills with other musicians who have similar interests in the blues and other standard tunes. Novices are welcome to attend to listen, support the players, and participate when they feel comfortable. Participants are welcome to “sit in” on a final session and concert the last week of classes.

Evening Ensembles

Evening Ensembles offer coaching and accompaniment of solos two evenings a week. All interested students, particularly those not enrolled in the Chamber Music class, are encouraged to participate. Auditions for forming chamber groups will be held during the first week of the session.

Glee Club

Glee Club is a large singing group that meets two evenings per week. Open to the entire community, this group sings and performs works from a wide range of traditional and contemporary music.

You will have the opportunity to sign up for extracurricular music groups on opening day.
