Biography

Troy Samuels earned his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and comes to Exeter from Bloomington, Indiana where he was a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Classical Studies at Indiana University. 

An archaeologist who specializes in the material culture of understudied and overlooked people in the ancient world, especially in 1st millennium BCE Italy, Dr. Samuels is a senior staff member on the Gabii Project, an international archaeological initiative studying one of Rome's early neighbors.  He enjoys playing soccer, board games, reading, traveling, cooking, eating, Chicago sports, and watching Chelsea Football Club in the EPL and FAWSL.

Dr. Samuels will live on campus with his spouse, Sabina Ion.
