Biography

Mr. Cleveland, a member of the Academy part-time music faculty since 2001, teaches at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell and has taught at St. Paul’s School and at several Community Music Schools in southern NH. His students have won or placed in school and university competitions and have been awarded honors in many regional, national, and international competitions, festivals, and scholarships. Additionally, Mr. Cleveland’s voice students have matriculated at prestigious colleges and conservatories including Boston Conservatory, Boston University, Cincinnati Conservatory, Emerson College, Indiana University, Ithaca College, Longy School of Music, New England Conservatory, St. Olaf’s College, and Westminster Choir College.

In addition to his teaching schedule, Mark Andrew Cleveland, bass, performs and records as both a soloist and chorister extensively throughout the Northeast. His solo credits include performances with Boston Symphony, Boston Baroque and Cantata Singers in Boston, and with most of the choral organizations in NH. He has recorded with New World Records, Telarc, and MSR Classics in repertoire ranging from music of the Baroque to 21st century premieres.

A graduate of Westminster Choir College, Mr. Cleveland maintains that the search for beauty ennobles the human spirit and experience. To that end, he is committed to the development of each student’s vocal, musical, and artistic potential as expressed in every style or genre.
