The Exeter cycling team capped off the circuit season in strong fashion, finishing in second place overall at Wednesday’s New England Road Cycling Championship on the Frontier Course at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

James Demopoulos led the way for Big Red as he claimed first overall in the boys B group sprint while teammate Bryce Morales finished third overall, thereby winning an overall title for Exeter in the group. Morales capped quite a season as he posted top-three finishes in four of the final five races of the season in the boys B division.

Girls C riders Lhamo Dixey, Elizabeth Fier and Emily Kang also claimed an overall group title yesterday for Big Red. Dixey crossed in third place overall, while Fier and Kang finished in sixth and eleventh respectively.

“We had a smaller squad that packed a big punch this year,” said Exeter head coach Don Mills. “In cycling sometimes you are the hammer and sometimes you are the nail. This team always stuck together regardless and I am very proud of this group.”

Exeter will close out the season when they race Andover on Wednesday, May 23rd in Hampton, New Hampshire.
