Exeter golf turns in strong performances to cap season

Standout performances from Eunice Kim ’21, Michaela Phan ’19 and Harry Saunders ’18.

Harry Saunders '18 shot a season-low 72 to finish in second place at the Kingswood Oxford Tournament. 

The Exeter golf team finished off their season with an impressive run, turning in solid performances in a pair of tournaments while also capturing the Weatherspoon Cup.

Eunice Kim ’21 and Michaela Phan ’19 opened up tournament play with terrific performances in the Pippy O’Connor Girls Golf Classic. Kim turned in a 76 to claim second place while Phan finished with a 77 to finish tied for fourth as the duo carried Big Red to a second-place overall finish with 336 overall strokes.

Exeter followed the Pippy O’Connor with a first-place finish over Andover and Governor’s in the third and final leg to claim the Weatherspoon Cup. Big Red bested Big Blue by nine total strokes in the final leg to secure a two-stroke league for the season competition.

Big Red capped their season on Wednesday with a sixth-place team finish at the annual Kingswood Oxford Tournament. Exeter’s Harry Saunders ’18 was phenomenal all day long, claiming second individually with a season low 72.

Exeter finished 6-1 overall in dual matches throughout the course of the season, their only blemish coming in the season-opener.
