Director of Equity and Inclusion at Exeter Dr. Stephanie Bramlett

Dr. Stephanie Bramlett, an educator who has devoted her studies and career to diversity and social justice, is Exeter's first director of equity and inclusion.

Bramlett joins PEA from St. Luke’s School in New Canaan, Connecticut, where she served as the director of the Center for Leadership and the director of inclusive excellence and leadership. At St. Luke’s, she was instrumental in creating the school’s road map for inclusivity through the Vision for Inclusive Excellence, and she founded the Mindfulness in Education Conference and the Social Justice Leadership Summit. She also led the training for multicultural educational practices and cultural competency. Bramlett currently is chair of the Commission on Diversity in Independent Schools for the state of Connecticut.

Prior to St. Luke’s, she contributed to equity and inclusion efforts at the university level, overseeing faculty recruitment and retention committees, teaching and advising students, and working with first-generation, historically underrepresented, and low-income college students in the TRIO and McNair Scholars programs. A political scientist and sociologist by training, she is a skilled researcher and data analyst.

Bramlett will report to the principal and work closely to fulfill the Trustee Vision Statement for diversity, equity and inclusion across campus. She also will be responsible for building, guiding and assessing the policies and practices that encourage these values. She officially begins in her new role July 1.
