On Thursday, May 1, 2014, at 7:00 p.m., Phillips Exeter Academy will host an evening talk by William Wegman, award-winning photographer, artist, painter and creator of films and videos. The talk and slide presentation will be held in the Assembly Hall, located inside the Academy Building on Front Street. The event is free and open to the public.

His videos have appeared on “Saturday Night Live,” Nickelodeon and “Sesame Street.” Exhibits and retrospectives of Wegman’s work have been shown in galleries and museums throughout the world. In May, he will serve as the featured artist for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum’s “Annual Robert Rosenblum Lecture.”

During his daylong visit to PEA, Wegman will also work with students on photography, design and portfolio projects.

“Wegman’s creative thinking and experimentation with various mediums make him a terrific match for our teaching philosophies and curricular aims,” says PEA Art Department Chair Tara Misenheimer. “His work challenges our students to view their world through a unique lens. We’re incredibly fortunate to work with such an inspirational, relevant contemporary artist.”
