R. Cary Einhaus

Biography

A member of Exeter’s College Counseling team since 1997, Mr. Einhaus was previously the Senior Assistant Director of Admission at The George Washington University, where he coordinated visit programs for prospective students. While reading New England applications as a member of GW's admissions committee, he also served as a freshman academic adviser. At GW, Mr. Einhaus earned a B.A. in Chinese and Russian Studies and completed graduate work in Russian and East European history. While at Exeter, he earned an M.A in English Literature from Middlebury College, with a concentration in early 20th-century British literature at Oxford University's Lincoln College. From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Einhaus was elected an assembly delegate for the New England region of the National Association of College Admission Counselors (NACAC).  In addition, he has served on the New England ACAC Governing Board and co-chaired the annual Summer Institute for three years.

During his time at Exeter, Mr. Einhaus has taught lower and upper English, advised both boarding and day students, served as dormitory head of Browning House, worked as a dorm team member in Abbot and Webster halls, served on faculty committees, advised student clubs, hosted a radio program on WPEA-FM, and coached club Ultimate Frisbee. During the summer, he regularly teaches writing at Exeter Summer.  For the Fall 2016 trimester, he shared his love of Shakespeare, history, and theater with twelve Exeter seniors, as the resident faculty leader of the Academy’s study abroad program in Stratford-upon-Avon, England.

He and his spouse, Jim Mills, live off campus in Exeter.
