Lynda K. Beck '80 (Hon.)

Lynda Beck grew up in Schenectady, New York where she graduated from Niskayuna High School as an accomplished athlete and scholar. After earning her undergraduate degree from the State University of New York, Cortland, Lynda received her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of New Hampshire.

Lynda was appointed to Exeter in 1972 and was the first female teacher in the Science Department. During 26-year tenure at the Academy, Lynda led various efforts including her work with the Committee to Enhance the Status of Women and the launch of the Conference of Women in Independent Schools. Both the committee and conference played an instrumental piece of helping to voice concerns of female faculty and students that has left a lasting impact.
