COVID-19 Update: Out of an abundance of caution, Phillips Exeter Academy has made the difficult decision to cancel our 2020 on-campus teacher conferences (and the off-campus Exeter Humanities Institute West). Please check back in the fall for information about our 2021 programs.
The Exeter Mathematics Institute will run virtual institutes this summer. See the list of EMI locations for details.
We host professional development institutes at Exeter each summer, at the end of June. These intensive six-day workshops attract more than 400 teachers from a broad spectrum of schools, including private, parochial and public schools in the U.S. and abroad. All based on Harkness learning concepts, the conferences focus on specific subjects, including science, Shakespeare, writing, environmental literature and diversity.
We continue to develop new conferences to meet demand, most recently launching the Exeter Diversity Institute and the Environmental Literature Institute at Exeter.
Exeter Mathematics Institute takes Harkness teaching and our custom-developed math materials to schools around the U.S. and Europe for workshops taught by PEA math instructors.
We continuously develop our teaching methods to ensure their effectiveness in a changing world, and share techniques with teachers around the globe.
