Academy Mail Room

The mailroom will be open Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:50 p.m.  The mailroom is located in the Academy Center behind the registration table area.  The mailroom can accommodate all standard mail and will send packages up to 20 lbs.

While at Exeter, if you have mail sent to you, it must be clearly marked or the mailroom will not accept it.  Please have any incoming mail that week addressed to:

There is an ATM located in the Phelps Academy Center lobby toward the post office.

Campus Safety Office

The main number to our Campus Safety Office is (603) 777-4444. If you are locked out of your dormitory, you should call Campus Safety from any outside phone, or look around for one of the grey security vans that patrol the campus.  To reach the main switchboard at the Academy, dial (603) 772-4311.

Important:  Blue light phones on campus are directed to the town of Exeter Police and should be used for emergency purposes only.

Conference Connection Board

Looking for someone to have dinner with?  Perhaps you want a running partner, a tennis partner or someone to head to the gym with.  Connect with other conference attendees by posting a note on the Conference Connection Board.  The board is located in the Academy Center by the stairwell.

Dining at the Conference

All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) are held at the Wetherell Dining Hall in 2019.  You will enjoy a wide variety of menu items throughout the week.

Do you offer vegetarian selections? Yes, at every meal you will find vegetarian selections.

Do you offer vegan options at mealtime? Yes, we offer vegan choices at every meal during the conference.

Do you offer soy milk? Yes, both soy and dairy milk are available at each meal - see a dining hall host for assistance.  

How do you address food allergies? All the food served is clearly marked for allergies.  We indicate tree nut-free, peanut-free, dairy-free, and gluten-free on items that are specifically prepared.    For our guests that follow a Celiac diet, please let us know so we can assist you.

Dorm Access - Swipe Badges and Room Keys

Phillips Exeter Academy dormitories are locked at all times.  When you check-in, you will be issued a swipe badge to access your assigned dorm only, as well as a key to your individual room.  Please keep these items on your person at all times.  Your swipe badge will open the main door to the dorm building, your key will open only your room.  The door locks behind you, so make sure to have your key when you leave the room. 

Lost key or swipe badge?  Head to the Conference Office in the Academy Center. 

Locked out of your room?  Head to the Academy Center and we'll assist you.  

Dress Code

Casual and comfortable.  Some classroom/meeting buildings are air conditioned, so you may want to bring a light sweater or sweatshirt.  Also, bring an umbrella in case we have any rainy days. 

Drinking Water on Campus

PLEASE BRING A REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE, as the Academy does not sell or provide bottled water.  There are filtered water filling stations located around campus, but you must provide your own bottle. You may also want to consider bringing a travel mug for coffee. 

Fans for Dorm Rooms

All participants staying in the dormitories may borrow a box fan, free of charge. No reservation is required.  You may pick up a fan at the Academy Center when you check into the conference (Saturday or Sunday). If you forget to pick up a fan over the weekend, just ask for one during the week.   

Lanyards & Name Badges

Name badges must be worn at all times while on campus, including meals and evening social time.  Each conference has a different color lanyard for easy identification of your peers. 

Misplaced or lost your badge? Stop by the Conference Office in the Academy Center. 


Each dorm is equipped with washing machines and dryers.  Stop by the information table in the Academy Center for assistance.

Lost and Found

There is a lost and found box located at the information table in the Academy Center (where you checked in).  If you find something, please turn the item into the lost and found. 

Medical Emergencies

If you are experiencing a life-threating medical emergency while on campus, please dial 911.  If you are using a land line on campus, just dial 911.   For non-life threatening medical needs, there is a ConvenientMD Urgent Care located at 1 Portsmouth Avenue, Stratham, NH (about 2 miles from campus). Hours are 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. daily.

Medication and Food Storage

If you travel with medication or your own food that needs refrigeration, there are refrigerators in each dorm (typically located in the basement or ground floor level).  You can store your items for the week.  Just make sure they are clearly marked with your name and what conference you are attending.  Custodians may toss items that are not marked. 

NH Cell Phone Driving Law

New Hampshire is now a hands free driving state.  You cannot text or use your cell phone while driving in the state - you will be issued a fine if you are caught using a device while driving. 


On campus parking is at a premium.  Please do not park in any on-campus spaces that are reserved for faculty residences or employees.  If you drive to the conference, you can park temporarily on Tan Lane while you register.  We will be happy to assist you with parking. You will be asked to place a "Conference Attendee" sign on your dashboard in the event your car needs to be moved during the week - we'll be able to easily find you.  Your parking options for the week are as follows:

PEA Parking Garage (NEW!)

Conference participants may park in the newly opened garage, beneath our athletic field house. Garage access is from Chadwick Lane, off of Court Street. 

Data Center Parking Lot, Corner of Main Street and Water Street
Please keep spaces closest to the building reserved for our employees.

Tan Lane Parking Lot 
This lot is reserved for employees of the Academy. Please do not park in this lot.

Side Streets:
Various locations - you can park on any side streets around the campus as long as you follow all public parking signs.


PLEASE NOTE: We are no longer permitted to leave cars in the Lincoln Street or Main Street school parking lots. 

Smoking Policy

We are a smoke-free campus.  Please do not smoke on Phillips Exeter Academy property, including in and around all buildings and dorms.
