UPPER SCHOOL and ACCESS EXETER offer a variety of social and recreational activities. Field Day, held the first week, pits one dorm against another in such events as sack and three-legged races. On weekends, you can attend dances sponsored by various student groups or movies on campus.
You will also have the opportunity to visit cultural and historical sites and to experience the natural beauty of the New England coast and mountains. Two afternoons a week and on Sundays you may sign up for recreational trips that are chaperoned by faculty and offered at an additional charge. Recent offerings have included whale watches, hikes in the New Hampshire mountains, and outings to Boston museums and theaters.
In addition to these day trips, classes sponsor field trips to places of interest. Science classes such as Marine Biology explore the nearby seacoast.
During Summer School, the College Counseling Office is staffed by a college counselor who is available to meet individually with students. The college couselors organize a large college fair during the second week of Summer School. Students will have the opportunity to meet with approximately 70 college admissions officers and receive literature describing their schools. In recent years, these colleges have included Dartmouth, Boston College, Boston University, Bowdoin, Northeastern, and Bates. During their stay at Exeter, students may sign up for excursions to visit local colleges.
