Biography

Dionna Richardson has taught at Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Mary Washington and Virginia State University, among others.

A scholar of women’s labor and migration history — with specialties in race, labor, gender and empire — Dr. Richardson’s dissertation was titled "Purloined Subjects: Indian Women’s Lives and Labor in the British Colonial Caribbean."

While at the University of Akron, she was president of the Graduate Committee for Research on Women’s Studies and Gender.
