Curricular Global Learning

New for 2019, our program in South Africa gives you an option to live and study on a continent that is undergoing incredible development.

Rich with culture and compelling history, the “rainbow nation” provides a fascinating backdrop for a term abroad. Spend the fall just outside of Johannesburg, the country’s largest city, studying at the African Leadership Academy. Here you’ll take courses alongside students from across the continent with a curriculum focused on academics, leadership and entrepreneurship. You’ll also participate in community service projects and travel within the country, including a trip to the coastal city of Cape Town.

In the coastal city of Tema, Exonians have attended SOS-Hermann Gmeiner International College where students from SOS-run orphanages combine with students from Africa, Asia, Europe and the U.S to create a diverse student body at a truly international prep school. In addition to their coursework, Exeter students partnered with HGIC classmates on social service projects and immersed themselves in Ghanaian culture by exploring locally and traveling throughout the West African nation.
