What's happened so far?
So far, so very good for Big Red against their old rivals. Beyond the annual season-ending clash, the schools compete head-to-head occasionally throughout the fall — and Exeter has won every meeting.
Exeter boys water polo swept two matches against Andover this year, but it took a combined eight overtimes to do it. A first meeting at Andover went five OTs before Big Red won it, 13-12. The rematch lasted only three OTs, with Exeter snaring a 10-9 win.
The cross-country dual meet was just as close. Sophie Cohen '22 nipped Andover’s Natalia Muromcew by one second to win the girls race, helping Exeter to an eight-point team victory. The boys race was an instant replay, with Varun Oberai '21 edging Andover’s Christopher Ratliffe by one second as Big Red won by 13 points.
In the only other varsity head-to-head with Big Blue, Exeter’s unbeaten girls volleyball team won 3-1, with set scores of 25-12, 25-22, 14-25 and 25-18. The rematch comes Saturday.

What about Interschols?
While Big Red and Big Blue collide in Exeter, three Academy teams will be vying for New England championships starting Saturday.
Boys water polo, a finalist in 2016 and 2017, will compete for an Interschols title at Greenwich, Connecticut. Big Red is 11-3 this season and is the third seed in the tournament. They face second-seeded Loomis Chafee at 4 p.m. in a semifinal.
The boys and girls cross country teams, both unbeaten this fall, will run for a championship at Northfield Mt. Hermon. The Exeter girls are defending champs; the boys last won the crown in 2016.
