ESSO Children's Cultural/Mentoring Programs

Big Sib Little Sib  

This club brings children of diverse backgrounds in Grades K - 8 together with PEA students. Each "little sib" is paired with a "big sib" of similar interests and ethnicity. Sibs form strong friendships over monthly group activities, many of which are closely related to various international cultures. Events include a holiday potluck for various cultures, celebrating Lunar New Year and sampling foods from other cultures.

Meetings: Sunday 1:00 - 2:30 p.m., October 20, November 3, December 15, January 26 (bowling party from 11:00 - 12:30), February 16, April 5, May 3
Location: Varies. Students will notify parents of meeting locations.

Chinese Culture Club

PEA students teach a small group of children in any grade and their parents various aspects of Chinese culture and language. Activities include making crafts such as lanterns and dragons, going on scavenger hunts, and cooking traditional Chinese food.

Meetings: Wednesday 4:00 - 5:00 p.m., October 2, October 16, October 30, December 11
Location: Basement of the Elizabeth Phillips Academy Center on Tan Lane

Gal Pals

Special needs women and female PEA students participate in fun activities together.

Meetings: Every other Tuesday from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.,  September 17, October 1, October 15, November 5

Location: Phillips Church basement
