Chess Lessons for Children

PEA students teach area elementary school children up to Grades 3 - 6 the fundamentals of chess.

Meetings: Wednesday 3:30 - 4:30 p.m., December 11, January 15, January 22, January 29, February 5, February 12, February 19

Engineering   

PEA students provide interesting engineering projects for children in Grades 4 - 7.

Meetings:  Sunday 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., January 12, January 26, February 9
Location:  Elizabeth Phelps Academy Center Basement, Project/Crafts Room

French Lessons for Children

Basic French is taught to children in Grades 2 - 5 by ESSO high school volunteers.

Meetings: Thursday, 6:30 - 7:15 p.m., December 12, January 9, January 16, January 23, January 30, February 6, February 13, February 20

Junior Computer Programming

Children in Grades 5 - 8 learn the basics of computer programming with ESSO high school volunteers.

Meetings:  Wednesday, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m., September 25, October 2, October 9, October 16, October 23, October 30, November 6
Location:  Phelps Science Center Computer Lab, 1st Floor

Latin Lessons for Children

Latin lessons are taught to children in Grades 3-6 by ESSO high school volunteers.

Meetings:  Saturday, 2:30 - 3:30 p.m., September 28, October 5, October 19, October 26, November 2
Location: Elizabeth Phillips Academy Center Rm 219 

Robotics

Children in Grades 5 - 8 use their scientific creativity to build and program small robots.

Meetings:  Saturday, 5:00 - 6:30 p.m., December 7, January 11, January 18, January 25, February 1, February 8, February 15
Location:  Phelps Science Center, Computer Lab, 1st Floor

Science Scouts   

Children in Grades 3 - 5 participate in scientific labs in all of the sciences.

Meetings:  Sunday, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., December 8, January 19, February 2, February 16
Location:  Elizabeth Phillips Academy Center Kitchen, basement level

Spanish Lessons for Children 

Spanish lessons provides children in Grades 2 - 5 a strong foundation in the Spanish language and culture. We recognize the large Hispanic presence in the U.S. and believe that an understanding of Spanish can be helpful, even at such a young age. Our club brings together elementary school students every Thursday evening in the Academy Center of PEA. Through fun games and tasty food, we make the learning experience enjoyable and more personal. Our tutors include native speakers and students in high levels of Spanish.

Tutoring for Children

PEA students tutor area children in Grades K - 8 who are having difficulty in a particular subject.  This is not designed to be an academic enrichment program for children.  

Meetings: On a mutually agreed upon date and time for 30 - 45  minutes per week.
Location: Academy Library or another mutually agreed upon on-campus location.
