A Celebration of 55 Years of
the Afro-Latinx Exonian Society
Since its founding in 1968, the Afro-Exonian Society — now the Afro-Latinx Exonian Society (A.L.E.S.) — has provided a place to support and share the culture and history of Black and Latinx students. For more than half a century, members of the A.L.E.S. have come together to learn about advocacy and how to transform their passion for issues into action.
The 55th anniversary of the A.L.E.S. was celebrated in style on October 28 and 29, 2023. Alumni, students, faculty and emeriti, staff, administration and Trustees came together to honor and celebrate the enduring impact of this historic student organization.
Special thanks to Academy Trustees Wole Coaxum ’88; P’24 and Paulina Jerez ’91; P’21 for co-hosting the festivities and to the A.L.E.S. Program Committee for their dedication and intention in putting together a rich and engaging program.
